Health, Safety, and Security

At Learning Tree Academy, we understand that it requires incredible trust to leave your children in someone else’s care, and we take that responsibility seriously. The health, safety, and security of our children and employees is our first priority.

Facility Security

  • 24/7 Video Surveillance: Our facility, including the classrooms, common areas, and grounds are all under video surveillance around the clock.
  • Secure Entry System: All visitors, families, and staff enter through our controlled, buzz-in security system. This ensures that only authorized individuals can access our building. Everyone has to be buzzed in by our staff so we can see who enters and exits the building. Authorized pick ups must be buzzed in and have their ID checked before children are released.
  • Controlled Access: All doors to outdoor areas are secured, limiting access to children and staff.
  • Emergency Plan: We have a comprehensive emergency plan for fire drills, evacuation routes, and storm drills that every staff member is familiar with to ensure every child is protected in every scenario.

Staff Training & Screening

We take the utmost care in selecting the staff and teachers who work in our facility, only choosing candidates who are educationally qualified and also attentive, passionate, and dedicated to providing a high level of care. Our focus on careful hiring practices, ongoing staff training, and safety certifications gives our parents peace of mind.

  • Comprehensive Screening: Every staff member undergoes fingerprinting and a thorough child abuse background check as part of our hiring process. All required clearances are in full compliance with state regulations, ensuring all requirements are met before working with children.
  • CPR & First Aid Certified: All staff members are required to have current certifications in first aid and CPR from Red Cross or American Heart Association instructors to ensure that every available person is prepared to respond calmly and effectively in emergency and medical situations.
  • Ongoing Professional Development: We believe that continuing education is an essential part of professional development, as new early childhood education best practices are continually introduced.

Health & Wellness

Anyone who has spent any time with children knows how much they love to explore the world around them, sometimes with their hands, and, quite often, with their mouths. At Learning Tree Academy, we focus on classroom health and wellness by keeping our spaces clean and teaching our students healthy habits.

Our classrooms are equipped with commercial-grade UV air purification technology that continuously sanitizes indoor air and surfaces. This system helps reduce the presence of airborne bacteria and viruses, creating a healthier environment.

Just as importantly, we actively teach good hygiene routines as part of our daily routines. Teachers walk the children through proper handwashing techniques after they use the bathroom, before and after meals, before and after outdoor play, and after “messy” activities. These routines are consistently reinforced so they become second nature.

Behind the scenes, our teachers and staff follow strict health, sanitation, and illness policies in full compliance with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) regulations and public health guidelines. Our goal is simply to give the children a safe, healthy place to learn and play, and give our parents peace of mind.
