About Us

Learning Tree Academy was founded in Wood-Ridge in 2015 with one simple goal: to be a home away from home for the children in our care. Excited to grow our community, we opened a second location in Succasunna. At Learning Tree Academy, we strive to create a place where your children feel safe and can learn essential skills that will help prepare them for their future academic experiences. Every aspect of our facility, from the curriculum to our classroom environments, is dedicated to providing our families with the best care.

Five Criteria for
Positive Discipline

As teachers, we recognize that children make decisions in response to their experiences; there’s a belief behind every behavior. Kids learn about the world by doing, and it’s our job to encourage them and provide opportunities for them to learn positive social and life skills. That’s why we implement the evidence-based Positive Discipline approach in our classrooms. 

The Positive Discipline approach is built around five core principles, focusing on helping children learn responsibility, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills. Our staff has completed intensive training with a Certified Positive Discipline Educator, and we’re proud to say that Positive Discipline is an intentional, ongoing element of our facility.

  • Help children feel a strong sense of belonging and importance in their classroom community.
  • Be patient and kind, but also firm and consistent, so the expectations are always clear and age-appropriate.
  • Support children in learning from their actions in ways that promote long-term growth and understanding.
  • Teach essential social skills, such as respect for one another, problem-solving, cooperation, and personal responsibility.
  • Invite children to learn how capable they are and to use their personal strengths in constructive ways.

We are a licensed child care provider in the state of New Jersey, and we meet all the health, safety, staffing, and curriculum requirements set by the state’s Department of Children and Families.
